TERMINOLOGIST (2026-1209)

RESPONSIBILITIES
Supports terminology projects through writing of term definitions in English, specifying associated metadata and values, reviewing data quality, and providing terminology-process guidance to users. Tasks may include but are not limited to:
• Work with project team, writers, and translators to build an enterprise terminology program.
• Mange the workflow process of all new term entries for the client, coordinating with stakeholders to post the term entries in a way that is compliant with applicable rules and standards.
• Prepare regular metrics presentations describing the state and progress of the terminology workflow.
• Monitor user suggestion for new source terms and feedback on existing source terminology.
• Train new product team users and source contributors to enable them to author data in the terminology management systems, and delegate tasks to the product team users as appropriate.
• Author concise concept definitions following standards set by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and/or client standards by collaborating the project managers and engineers.
• Improve the terminology concept system by writing definitions for new concepts to fill in gaps in the existing terminology database.
• Answer questions about terms posed by internal and external translators.
• Provide translators, transcribers, and interpreters with domain-specific glossaries, translation memories, segmentation rules, and style guides as requested.
• Learn the client’s terminology-management tools and train other on the tools.
REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
• Active TS/SCI clearance with Poly.
• Ability to pass an English grammar test.
• Working proficiency in one of the following languages: Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Kurdish, Russian, Spanish, Ukrainian.
• Ability to pass a translation test from the source language into English with a minimum of 2 on the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) Scale.
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in language, linguistics, translations, or related field. Understanding of terminology management theory, principles, and methods, and expertise in terminology management tool/systems, including integration with authoring and localization platforms.
• Experience in terminology management.
PREFERRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
• Demonstrated proficiency with translation management systems such as Termnet, SDL MultiTerm or Kaleidescope Quickterm.
• Demonstrated proficiency with corpora mining systems systems and algorithms such as SketchEngine or spaCy.
• Formal training in terminology management or lexicography.
